Lower Decks CTV video reveals how fun the new Star Trek animated show will be

As you probably know, the ComicCon@Home event will dedicate an entire day to the Star Trek Universe on July 23. Star Trek Universe is the new umbrella term that CBS is using to promote the variety of shows that are in production or soon to be produced, including a certain Star Trek animated show.

One of the most anticipated is both the first Trek comedy, and the first Star Trek animated show since the Animated Series in the 1970s, is Star Trek: Lower Decks.

On July 23, Lower Decks showrunner, Mike McMahan will lead a panel of stars from his new show, and give fans an “extended look” at what they can expect from Lower Decks. More on that here.

Fans don’t have to wait until July 23 to see the characters of Lower Decks in action, as this morning, someone posted an advertisement from the Canadian broadcaster CTV, featuring a two-minute look at the new show.

Trek Report found this and reposted it on Twitter, to incredible fan reaction:

In just two minutes, fans get to see all sorts of action and comedy that the show will certainly deliver when it begins airing on August 6 on CBS All Access in the United States, and on CTV in Canada.

The show’s cast includes:

  • Eugene Cordero (Ensign Rutherford)
  • Noël Wells (Ensign Tendi)
  • Dawnn Lewis (Captain Carol Freeman)
  • Tawny Newsome (Ensign Beckett Mariner)
  • Jerry O’Connell (Commander Jack Ransom)
  • Jack Quaid (Ensign Brad Boimler)
  • Fred Tatasciore (Lieutenant Shaxs)
  • Gillian Vigman (Doctor T’An)

UPDATE

After publishing the trailer at 9 a.m. this morning, Star Trek’s official Twitter released the same trailer from their feed as well around 1 p.m. EST. The reaction from fans on the official Trek feed was also mostly positive.
