Trek fans have been treated to a number of great stories from CBS All Access for the past few years, and it looks like The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is finally starting to pay some notice. Today, the Emmy Award recommendations were announced, and two Star Trek show were honored with Emmy Nominations.
Star Trek: Picard was nominated for five Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling,” “Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic),” “Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie or Special,” “Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour),” and “Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour).”
Meanwhile, Star Trek: Short Treks got a nomination as well, this one for “Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.”
The co-executive producer of Discovery, Michelle Paradise, congratulated both shows for earning this accolade:

Friend of Trek Report, film editor Chad Rubel, who is a Hollywood veteran with years of experience, was struck by this nomination. Rubel, who worked on Short Treks before starting on Discovery’s third season, had never been a part of a show or production nominated for an Emmy Award before.
“I am happy for all the people who contributed to Short Treks and I am proud of my small contribution to the entire series,” said Rubel.
The 72nd Emmy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The show will be broadcast, Sunday, Sept. 20 on ABC. The 2020 Creative Arts Awards will air on FXX on Saturday, September 19. The 2020 Creative Arts Awards include many of the categories that Star Trek: Picard was nominated for awards in.
