Star Trek: Section 31 is already renewed for a second season!

Thanks to a scoop from our friends at Geeks World Wide, we now know that the spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery starring Michelle Yeoh will be renewed for a second season! Yes, crazy at may be, the Section 31 show is getting a second season before the first one has even started filming.

The show will feature Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou … or perhaps “Imperial Majesty, Mother of the Fatherland, Overlord of Vulcan, Dominus of Qo’noS, Regina Andor — Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius.” That was her name when she was the Terran emperor from the Mirror Universe.

It was just a while back that we learned the rumors were true, and that the Section 31 show was going to be one of the many Trek series appearing on CBS All Access.

Much like Picard, the Section 31 show will deviate from the standard Trek formula. This show will not be primarily about a ship (or space station) and its leadership. Not much is known about the plot, but the secret organization it is named for has received new prominence in recent years, from both Discovery and Enterprise, as well as the film, Star Trek Into Darkness.

Back in 2017, Yeoh said that Captain Philippa Georgiou and Starfleet were about “freedom and cooperation.” That will likely not be the case with Georgiou of Section 31.

The GWW also reports that shooting for Section 31 will begin on May 4, and that CBS will produce both Season 1 and 2 back-to-back in Mississauga, Ontario.

There is still no official release date for the Section 31 show.

UPDATE

The GWW reports that the May 4 date has been pushed back, due to other filming commitments.
