LeVar Burton can see a way for Geordi to appear on Picard: Season 2

Now that the first season of Star Trek: Picard is completely over, many are speculating on what Season 2 will hold in store. While many debate on the storylines that could shape a new season of Picard (for which there are many possibilities after the season finale), others are interested in which Star Trek stars may join the cast for ew adventures with Jean-Luc Picard.

A few months ago, Patrick Stewart himself asked Whoopi Goldberg to reprise her role as Guinan. So that’s one star who will be returning to her TNG role. And just a few days ago, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, LeVar Burton talked about how could see a possible return for his character — fan favorite Geordi La Forge.

During the interview with ET’s Lauren Zima, Burton answered questions regarding a Geordi’s return to Star Trek. Zima asked him if there was potential for him to revisit the role of Geordi on Picard.

”I think it’s reasonable to assume that those people are still a part of Picard’s life,” said Burton. Then, while trying to answer in a measured way, he gave up.

“Sure! What the hell? Absolutely!” he said. “I think … yeah. I think you’ll see us all. Probably not all at the same time, but never say never.”

Zima then asked him what he’d want Geordi’s possible return to look like, as he would have a creative vision for the character.

“I suggested to the producers that perhaps Geordi had … or we find Geordi where’s he’s teaching,” said Burton. “Passing that knowledge and inner vision to another generation of people.”

“We’ll see,” said Burton. “Alex [Kurtzman] and the folks are in charge and they are doing an amazing job, and when they call, and whatever it is they want me to do, I’m pretty sure that it’s gonna be spectacular.”

Geordi was named dropped in Picard – Episode 2: Maps and Legends, so we know that he is alive and about in the Picard “present.”
