Picard must be great, because Season 2 has already been approved

WOW! We must really be in for a treat. The highly-anticipated series, Star Trek: Picard, has already been renewed for a second season.

According to Deadline, the new show has at least $20M in incentives from California for its production — which makes one wonder what the stars are being paid for this. But I think we all don’t care, as long as the shows keep coming!

This news is interesting, because Picard has not been released yet, that will be January 23, 2020. If the brass at CBS feel that the show is worth renewing already, then fans should be in for a real treat. The news did not happen to mention who would be included in the second season — presumably Patrick Stewart would return as Picard. But whether Brent Spiner (Data), Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Marina Sirtis (Troi), or Jeri Ryan (7 of Nine), are not known.

Showrunner Michael Chabon will be involved with the second season, but will shift his energies to adapting his novel, “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay,” into a CBS show, which could run on a number of platforms. No word on who will take over in his place.
