Star Trek fandom does not want for podcasts. There are many out there, and of those, some are simply fantastic. Now, Gates McFadden, known to Trek fans everywhere as Dr. Beverly Crusher from The Next Generation, is working on a new podcast. This show will feature many of her famous friends from her days as ship’s doctor.

McFadden leaked an announcement via her Twitter recently, saying that she’s already interviewed TNG co-stars Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Wil Wheaton (Wesley), Brent Spiner (Data), Michael Dorn (Worf), LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), and Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi).

This is great news for fans of TNG and Trek in general. This might be the ‘default’ or ‘must-listen’ podcast for fans of The Next Generation moving forward. That being said, there’s no word or clarification from McFadden as to what format the show will be recorded in. One might speculate that McFadden’s podcast might be presented in the same manner as Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey created theirs — The Office Ladies. Fischer and Kinsey starred on the U.S. version of The Office, and their show features interviews and episode break-downs.

While excitement builds, one fan asked McFadden a question, which she was not ready to give an answer to — the exact date for release of the show. Instead of revealing a specific date, she said instead that she would let fans know when she has decided on something.

Though she’s recorded shows with much of the TNG cast, there are a few folks left that she hasn’t spoken to yet. Those would be Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), John de Lancie (Q), and Patrick Stewart (Picard).

We at Trek Report would like to see her show go on, even after she’s been able to talk with the main cast stars. Perhaps she can talk with those who worked behind the scenes to make TNG so incredible. The would be Rick Berman, Michael Okuda, Andrew Probert, and more. She could also talk with Robert Blackman, who was responsible for much of the costumes and uniforms for TNG. Or she could continue the show in a way similar to the afore mentioned Office Ladies podcast.

McFadden is not the first Trek star to start her own show. She follows The Delta Flyers podcast, which features Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill chatting about their time aboard the U.S.S. Voyager. Fans can also tune into the 7th Rule, which stars Cirroc Lofton (Jake of Deep Space Nine) discussing all things Trek with a variety of special guests.
